Ex-Con Turned CEO: Self Reinvention Corporation... Fuel The Entrepreneurial Flame!

The new non-profit organization that will inspire the people with the problem to become the solution

Self Reinvention Corporation, founded by ex-con turned Inc 500 CEO David Koch, is the new dimension in reducing ex-offender recidivism and juvenile crime. The need to effectively address the systemic problem of recidivism is profound. There are over 2.3 million people in prison in the United States. Statistically, 95% of these people will eventually be released back to the community. Without a genuine opportunity to turn their life around, many become desperate and re-offend and subsequently return to prison – on average 67.5%. Public safety will be well-served by transforming these offenders into ex-offenders and from turning tax consumers into tax contributors.

Koch knows first-hand the difficulties encountered by ex-offenders. Almost 31 years ago, Koch was released on parole after serving federal and state sentences. Realizing he never wanted to return to prison, Koch made the unconditional commitment to re-enter mainstream society. Although the felon label isn’t easy to overcome, Koch went on to achieve an extraordinary level of success. He earned his commercial, instructor and airline transport pilot certificates and then went on to serve as the CEO of a twice-distinguished Inc 500 company.

Koch has invested substantial time during the past five years to visiting correctional facilities, both adult and juvenile, and conducting seminars to help soon-to-be released inmates realize that a normal life in mainstream society is attainable. However, besides the collateral sanctions associated with a felony conviction, and the social stigma it carries, Koch realized that one of the most challenging barriers to making a successful re-entry into society is economic. The newly established Self Reinvention Corporation realistically addresses the economic challenges faced by ex-offenders and within a generation hopes to reduce recidivism from the current rate of almost 70% to below 10%.

Self Reinvention Corporation’s components and services include:

  • Life Skills Training
  • Entrepreneurship Training
  • Business Incubation
  • Ex-offender Employment
  • Business and Administration Support
  • Advertising and Media
  • Capitalization
  • Mentoring

“People who have a felony conviction or who have served time in prison are held to a higher standard. Rise to the occasion. Records are broken by those who dream beyond the barriers,” explains Koch.
