McKesson Corporation Steps Up for America’s Disabled Veterans

America’s largest disabled-veteran business exposition, “Keeping the Promise 2010” (KTP), will be sponsored by McKesson Corporation. In partnership with the non-profit California Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise Alliance (DVBE), McKesson has become title sponsor of the two-day veteran’s business opportunity expo in Irvine, California. KTP 2010 provides thousands of ‘business matchmaking’ sessions with DVBE companies and buyers of goods and services from State, Federal and private industry companies on contract opportunities.

“Keeping the Promise 2010” is hosted by the California Disabled Veterans Business Alliance and is structured to provide business matchmaking for California’s Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises (DVBE) as well as Service Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses (SDVOB) that attend. Business matchmaking places California disabled veteran owned companies and Service Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses (SDVOB) directly in contact with dedicated buyers of goods and services they provide.

KTP 2010 will be held on 24 and 25 May 2010 at the Irvine Marriott in Irvine, California. The website is www.ktpexpo.org and will be open December 2009. Contact the Alliance office with any questions at (916) 446-3510.

The Alliance is a non-profit corporation that supports the California DVBE program and SDVOB in all states when needed. Its Corporate Advisory Board, of which McKesson is a member, works to advise the Alliance on its actions to support corporate America’s supplier diversity goals as they relate to Disabled Veteran Businesses. McKesson is also joined by the California Department of General Services as the State Leadership Sponsor for KTP 2010.

McKesson has been a sponsor for the California Alliance for the past four years and has a very strong corporate program to use DVBE and SDVOB in their contracting efforts. Earlier this year McKesson worked with the Alliance to share information about its contracting opportunities for the H1N1 flu vaccine distribution program with veteran owned business. As a result, the project generated contract awards for multiple DVBE including Stay Safe Solutions, a California DVBE awarded a contract for staffing services.

“As the nation’s largest healthcare services and IT company, McKesson is proud to partner with the California Disabled Veterans Business Enterprise Alliance to provide America’s veterans with access to business tools that will set them up for success in the marketplace,” said John Figueroa, former U.S. Army Captain and President of McKesson’s U.S. Pharmaceutical business.

The President of the Alliance’s Board of Directors Dr. Robert Brown expressed his absolute elation with McKesson’s commitment to KTP 2010, to the Alliance and to the brave men and women of our nation that make entrepreneurial opportunity their means for rehabilitating positively back into society after their heroic service to their country. Membership in the DVBE Alliance is free to service-disabled veterans.
