According to "Home-buying program has cash, controversy" (San Diego Union-Tribune News, Feb. 6), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development gives my tax dollars to an organization called ACORN that goes door to door hunting for illegal immigrants, not to deport, but to offer low-interest, lowdown-payment home mortgages. And Wells Fargo and Citibank are anxiously waiting to make these loans, with up to eight adult illegal immigrants on the deed.
I guess I've heard it all. No one has offered to help my son or daughter, recent college graduates, get a loan low payment or low mortgage rates. They can't afford a San Diego County home. Unfortunately, neither HUD nor ACORN will use my tax dollars to help them because they are both, unfortunately I guess, middleclass U.S. citizens.
